bah, house has been burgled.
Discussion
So I worked late tonight, got home from the office at around 22:40. Opened the front door and when I closed it the latch wouldn't catch properly. Notice that the kitchen door is open (normally closed because of kittens) and then suddenly realise that I've been burgled. They'd prised the door open and got in through the front.
Lots of stuff moved about, draws tipped out etc but nothing stolen. Laptops, cameras (pro stuff, worth a lot of money) hadn't been touched but it seems that they tried to steal the RX8 on the drive with a Honda key and when it wouldn't open the door the left it on the floor and legged it.
The Honda key itself was for the Integra Type R DC2 sitting out the back and the RX8 doesn't currently have an engine in it.
Not sure why I'm posting this, just a bit pissed off about it really. Police have been round and we great but agreed that they were just after the RX8 and that's why they didn't bother with anything else.
Not nice knowing someone has been in the house I must admit but I'm not too shaken up over it, just annoyed.

Luckily the kittens are fine and no real damage done to the house. Very strange that it would happen the one day that I decide to work late. Police were very good though even though they agreed that they probably won't find anything when SOCO come round tomorrow.
Not sure how well I'll sleep tonight knowing that they could easily come back and just push the door open if the put a bit of effort into it. I doubt they'd come back now though.

This happended to some friends of mine a few weeks ago whilst they were on holiday. Nothing was taken from the house, except my mate's wife's keys to the Clio 182 on the drive. Police found the car a few days later dumped nearby. It was pretty much unmarked, but if it were me, I know I wouldn't ever want to drive that car again. My mate's wife was pretty f****d up by the fact that they had been through all the bedside drawers (presumably looking for the keys) and even pulled all the covers off the bed. What made matters worse was that my mate works away in the week so she spends alot of time at home on her own when he's away.

I did have a little chuckle that they tried to steal a car with no engine and used a honda key to do so though, stupid b
ds.
I've had worse, some scrotes had done their best to pop the lock off the door of an XR3 I had sitting outside the workshop. The car was never locked. Once in they pulled all the wires to try and get it started... If only they'd opened the bonnet(on the latch), they would have seen there was only half the engine in there...
ds.The car was a donor for another project...

They can't be too bright most car keys have some form of logo on them giving a hint as to which car they belong to, so using Honda keys on a Mazda is seriously stupid.
both the teg and rex both have the logo on the keys and the teg even has a honda keyring. Total idiots, they even left the 200 bensons that were sitting on my coffee table!dave-therave said:
It's getting moved off the drive tonight and put in a mates lock up for a while. That way there will only be a car on my drive when I'm in. Going to fit an alarm tomorrow as well but had dead locks/bolts etc fitted to the front door today.
Won't this mean that scrotes will know when you are there and when you aren't?Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
