The gaffer has demanded that we get something like this for the garden:

Any PH'ers have any recommendations for a decent supplier..?? Any pitfalls, must haves, arguments why the money would be better spend on a supercharger conversion etc etc
The plan is to have something under 2.4m high on a paving flag base and electrics for lights, TV (beer fridge
)
Thanks

We built a log cabin a couple of years ago. We spent a long time looking at various makes and were frankly unimpressed by the quality of much of the cheaper stuff on offer, it seemed to us they were little more than glorified sheds. We ended up going to this mob: http://www.slcd.co.uk/ and are very pleased with the result.

That looks interesting - not too expensive either.... I'm tempted myself as my kids are trying to take over my barn which I am fighting!http://dhlogcabins.co.uk/uk/product/145/5125/45m-x...

Do you need planning permission?
If you go ahead, I would say the following are obvious...
1. As you've said, power. You can lay armour cable yourself (with a large spare spool either end) and have your local spark connect it up.
2. Telephone line/broadband extension.
3. Heating can be done with (portable) oil filled rads - it's what I use in my barns and works well and is cheap.
4. Water? Handy to have water nearby for a brew - but can be fiddle to arrange
5 Insulation! A must have - there are a dozen ways to insulate, but you need it. Cooler in the summer and warm (ish) in the winter.
5. Probably a better base than paving slabs - I lay a large bet you'll use this den a lot.
We've got something similar in out garden...can't remember who the supplier was I'm afraid. It does the job but the thing I would definitely make sure of is that when ours arrived we realised the timber wasn't treated....luckily we got it sorted before we had any rain. Worth checking....

I had a look (online) at their Lienne range. Half the price of other posh shed builders I can find, but I'd need to see it first and I'm in Edinburgh and the nearest "showroom" for me is Bedford. My tame builder is going to do similar to any spec for about the same, cedar / larch cladding and all the toys.http://dhlogcabins.co.uk/uk/product/145/5125/45m-x...

If you're near one of their sites go and have a look. They seemed decent on the phone is all I can add

We just got this put in the garden to be used as a home office. It's 4m x 3m and has a window on the side as well.
We used these guys for it. No problems at all.
