The water range is usually dry to moist and they are commonly found in clayey ground in the USA. Perhaps assume low-moderate?
Based on past experience, they're prone to snapping when not mature and the gum can create a terrible mess when it drops!

I have one. I admired it when viewing the house, by the time we moved in the previous owner had cut it to the ground!
Anyway, I transplanted it (they had a habit of planting trees in inapproriate places) and five years on it's not happy. Instead of one trunk it grew several (pollarded). Only two or three stems survive, the rest shoot to about 12' then just die.
It's in clay adjacent to quite a soggy lawn yet still looks scraggy. Think it might be time for something else. Shame though, beautiful flowers.
