oil stain on carpet

I have a spot of black oil about 8mm in diameter on my hallway carpet between the front door and the stairwell right smack bang in the middle its the first thing i see now when i open the door its been on there about a week is there a way of getting rid of it ie steam or cleaner/degreaser of some sort? the carpet hesian backed

Test it in a corner first, but i've found brake cleaner is like dry cleaning in a can.
It'll shift oil and grease pretty easy, but check it doesn't take out any dyes.

Try fairy liquid first - seems to shift most oil stains for me.
