Aftermarket downlighters- anyone got them?
Discussion
Finally getting our old cottage something like we want it to be, but bloody hell the kitchens dark.
Can anyone suggest an aftermarket downlighter to fit under the kitchen cabinets to illuminate the worktops?
Kitchen was hand made 4 years ago- before we moved in, so needs to be done with as little disruption as possible.
I'm all ears, over to you

do you have pelmets under the cupboards?
if so you can fit strip lighting like this under the front edge to give a wash down the splashback

Can you post a link for those if so you can fit strip lighting like this under the front edge to give a wash down the splashback

Cheap/simple/tidy option would be to go battery LED.
(and having just clicked who the OP is, SAFEST OPTION too.)

As said b&q or any decent electrical wholesaler will have them
better than flourescent strips as they're smaller and don't blow
Hope I'm not too late for this! better than flourescent strips as they're smaller and don't blow

Battery powered strip won't be powerful enough and LED that B&Q sell is expensive, cheaply made and crap. If you want first class LED then I am your man.
www.ecoledlight.co.uk and you will find Flexi-Strip here.
If you don't have a pelmet to hide it behind then I have some stunning aluminium channelling available which you can recess or surfance mount with a snap on opaque cover to hide the LEDs.

Triphospher slimline florescent fittings are best for pelmit lights. Halogens overheat, don't last long, fiddly to change. LED's tend to be very expensive or pretty carp. (cold, weak light)
Sorry Ben, this simply isn't true. I run my entire house on LED from top to bottom including all general lighting and you would never know. The key is finding a company which actually knows what it's doing and has the right kit for the job. The problem with the Internet is that any dick can start importing badly made crap from China and set themselves up with an online shop which makes it like the wild-west for consumers trying to find the right product. king- it's all over the place, and not much room between the worktops and eye level cupboards. You can't even stand a bottle of wine there.
