Electronic flea killers
Discussion
We think we have a few of the critters trying to find somewhere warm in our carpets. Cats been done and there is none on him but we keep getting the telltale ankle bites.
Have seen these electronic flea things, think they come with sticky disc things. Has anyone used one and are they any good? Am trying to avoid sprays and bombs due to my allergies to stuff like that but if needs be, we can use them as a last resort.
Thanks

Do Frontline do house stuff? We have used it on the cat before and it was crap, think the fleas bathed in it! Cat has been done with Advocate and that seems to have done the job on him, just need something to do the house. Might be being paranoid as we have only found two jumpers but better to be safe and unbitten!
It breaks the cycle so the fleas you see jumping around can't bite anything to feed and then breed, always seemed to work wonders on our cats!
Give everything a good hoover as well as the eggs lie dormant or something, it's strong stuff, hence being prescription only, unless you have mega fleas or they've mutated or something...

How does that work if its only round the skirting boards? Sounds a lot easier than trying to do under beds and stuff.
My dogs picked up fleas a few years ago. So I treated them with Frontline or equivalent. They got re-infected,but had not come into contact with any apparent source. So I did some investigating at the time. I'm a little hazy on the exact details.Contrary to popular belief, fleas spend almost as much time off their hosts as on them. Once they have had a blood meal they can live and breed away from their host. They like dark moist places and under skirting boards is their favoured spot.
They venture out every now and then and have a go at the nearest "meal".Hence even though you've done the cats you are still getting bitten.
Spray round the skirting boards forms a barrier for emerging fleas for, I think, 3 months. Applied twice and it breaks the cycle.
It certainly works. I've also got sash and case windows which used to fill with Wintering house flies in the frames. It sorts that too.
PS I have no connection with Vetchem whatsoever.

They seem to like trying to eat me more than mr XL. I am going a bit mad with the hoover at the moment as I read somewhere that the bods recken it kills most of them so long as you dispose of the bag/bodies/eggs properly. But will get some vetchem stuff just in case it doesn't work. I am hoping that any of the critters who get on the cat, die from the stuff on him so a few less.
We accidentally let the frontline treatment lapse in the summer, and got a major problem. Frontline Combo on the cats (which includes a growth inhibitor which stops larvae in the environment developing as well as killing fleas on the cat), flea fogging where we could and obsessive compulsive hoovering seems to have mostly sorted it. We couldn't use the foggers downstairs because the rooms which don't have food preparation surfaces in them have fish tanks, but where we did use them they did work. God I hate cat fleas.
