We have a new build house which has ceiling fans in the Kitchen and all Bathroom/Toilets. The fans are permamnently on but isolated with a switch high up the wall. We were told they are designed to be left on permanently and something to do with a sealed house??

Anyway, the problem is they are noisy. We have to turn the master en suite on/odff when using to expel steam, but at night it is too noisy to sleep. the kitchen one is off permanently, downstairs cloaks left on and the others are off.

Question is, what can I do? Does anyone know of a silent ceiling fan I can replace them with. Failing that I assume I could get a sparky to wire them to the light switches?

Thats a bit odd...

I have a new build and have fans in the bathroom, these are light and humidity activated. I have thought about replacing them with 'delay on' type, which allow a short usage without switching on.
Obviously they are also switched with isolators.

In the kitchen we have the cooker extractor, but no fan.

Ian, do you not rate the humidity fans? That would be another option for me without having rewuiring done.

They should either come on with the lights or be on separate switch. Ones that are linked to lighting usually have a timer when the lights go off the fan stays on, this can be adjusted under the cover plate.
