PuttIng an earth into my upstairs lighting circuit?
Discussion
So in the middle of bedroom 1 decoration of my 60s built 3 bed semi, I decided on placing down downlighters in the bedroom.
Dropped existing pendant down to reveal no earth wire, got up in the loft and still no earth wire to be seen.
So I have a sparky coming round next week to price it up.
Is it a massive job? I'm also having a consumer unit put in as the moment I'm still on the original 60s single switch for the whole house affair?
Is he going to have to chase out my Walls? Or is there another method?

Probably needs a re-wire, but if the insulation resistance of the circuit is ok, and everything else flags up ok, you can put in L.V. downlighters as no cpc will be required.
Just check you only have class 2 fittings and switches on that circuit, and Shazam.
However, a 50yr old install is probably gonna have issues !!
