Toilet seat thread size

Does anyone know the thread on a toilet seat hinge?

Ours is loose, and as I keep tightening the platic wingnut thingy all the threads have gone. I want to replace the plastic items with metal ones and as I don't have anything the correct thread in my bits-box, will have to go and buy some.

It's a bog standard (see what I did there) seat with standard hinges.

Turns out they're M6 (10mm spanner). I found a forgotten about bit-box (garage needs a tidy) with some in which fitted a treat.

M6 wing nut, use vasaline on the bolt prior to fixing nut.
