Over the last few weeks I've been working on building a new pond and thought you might be interested in these pictures of my progress. Last winter I lost several nice fish in my old pond because it was too shallow, when I dug it ten years ago I couldn't get any deeper as I hit some serious tree roots. So we (my wife plans the garden) decided to go for a formal pond closer to the house where I can see the fish all year round. I went for a perfect circle to match a circular theme with the pergola and formal lawn. The "tank" I bought is 9' dia x 4' depth so with about a foot raised above ground level we had about 6.5 tons of soil to shift! The top soil went straight into the old pond and the rest went in a skip. Today my wife has been planting up while I've been working away in the old pond area levelling it out and clearing up. I don't know what happened to the sunshine the promised though smile
