Hi,

Just a few photos of the family pond. Previous owner of the house built it and stocked it with lots of koi. It's been on the cover of a well known koi magazine which featured the build. It's about 10' deep so it holds a lot of water! These photos were taken in the summer so it was looking a bit green and foamy. It looks much cleaner after some rain and cloud. It's filtered by 3 huge circular filters, a large shell and grit stacker filter and also has UV light filters. It runs 3 big pumps too. All the filters and pumps are housed under the decking at the back.

That's not a pond - that's a private lake!

Those Koi must be worth thousands Dany .... my uncle used to own a tropical fish store nr. Wallisdown, Bournemouth, and sold some Koi that were (then) well over £1,000 each.

It wasn't next to a Chinese owned chippy was it?

ETA: Great pond!

A friend of mine has a (much smaller) pond with some Koi left from the previous owners.

How would he know if his Koi are valuable or not?

Wow, thats hugely impressive, as has been said some of those Koi must be worth a fortune, wonder if the value of those was taken into account when the purchase price of the house was determined?

I'm in the process of getting planning permission to dig a 0.4 acre pond in the garden at the moment simply to give me access to some coarse fishing as there is nowhere remotely close to where I live in Aberdeenshire and its one of the few things I really miss not living in England anymore.

I can't remember, Fido. It was about 25 years ago. It was on Kinson Road, Wallisdown end - left side heading from Turbary Park to Wallisdown.

Anywhoo, Dany's pops has some superb Koi there.
