Wooden shed base painting?
Discussion
Hi all,
I've just moved house and want to get a decent sized metal shed so I can empty my storage unit in to it and save a fortune! There is a patch of hardstanding already, so I was thinking of bunging down some 3x3 fence posts and some OSB on to top them to build the shed on to. I'm not too convinced of the OSBs weathering abilities though so want to paint it, well at least around the exposed edges. Any recommendations, or maybe different material choice? What's the wood equivalent of POR15 these days?
Cheers,
Rob

OSB has a very shiny finish, so painting doesn't really work. It’s not that great in the wet either - better than Chipboard, but not great! I would post a picture of my neighbours OSB monstrosity, but I have just hidden it behind a fence!
I would use treated Shiplap or Tongue and Groove. It will cost bit more mind, but it will last.

Hi,
I'm only going to use the OSB (or alternative) for the base platform on top of the fence posts. Metal sheds don't come with an integrated base like wooden ones.
I know what you mean about monstrosities though, the pikey I had the misfortune of living to before built a couple of large lumps out of basically scrap, one of which was a vivid blue which, despite promises to, he never painted.
Cheers,
Rob
