So I've been doing some macho DIY recently which has involved lifting floorboards and opening up plasterboard walls.

I've noticed that there is no rockwool type insulation anywhere.

In previous houses I've always found padding stuffed into such voids.

Is this due to a change in regs or something?

Is it worth buying some insulation and ading it myself?

Because heat rises, partition walls are internal and you need some ventilation?

The only place it's needed is in the loft void.

Yes the regs have changed over time. Internally, the heavier rockwall cavity insulation is more to do with sound insulation - toilet noises etc. Also if you only heat part of a house, it will make individual rooms quicker to warm up/cheaper to heat.

Using something like Rockwool Flexislab will also give you added fire protection as well as sound and thermal benfits.
