After having been on for about half an hour my boiler often starts making a banging noise which lasts a few seconds followed by the pilot light going out. Anyone got any ideas what would cause this and would it be an easy/cheap fix? Thanks.

Could be many things, my guess is the pump has stopped working and the boiler is over heating and going into lockout.

Is it a combination boiler or conventional? What make and model is it?

Hi Ricky, cheers for the reply. It's a Myson Apollo, conventional.

Have you checked the pump is working, some boilers have an interruptor on the thermocouple which cuts the pilot if it overheats.

If its not the pump, it could be the control stat on the boiler that has failed.
