Now I've got my wood burner ordered I need to build myself a wood store. Most of the ones you can buy seem to have an open front

Isn't this going to mean the logs get wet from rain, or is that not really a problem? I was thinking of building something on the side of the house a bit like that but close in the bottom half of the front and then have doors on the top half. Is that an overkill?

You can get a material that will stop the worst of rain but lets the air go through, like this ..

Alternatively, you could be a cheapskate like me and wander down to the local trading estate and ask one of the sheds there for a few old pallets. Most have some you can have for free.

I used 6 to build the base, sides, and back of my log store and then made up a sloping roof with overhang from old tongue & groove boards I was ripping out of the kitchen.

The slatted sides, back, and base let a nice amount of air through the logs.

Hubby used pallets for the base. Back is open as is the front to allow throughput of air. The perspex roof allows the sun to add to the drying of logs process. It took him about a day, start to finish.
