Dispute with postman.
Discussion
The local postman has decided that he is no longer delivering post to my house because he is afraid of my dog.
To be fair the dog (british bulldog)does go mental (snarling and jumping up to get the mail)when anyone drops post in the letter box.
However the dog is inside the house and the post man is on the outside. So i can't see a problem.
He claims that he is in danger of losing a finger when putting letters in the letter box but... you don't put your hand in the letter box you just push the letter through.
I think he is just being a prick, he is a hateful little man even at the best of times.
Is he being completely unreasonable or do I have to put up a post box out side as per his suggestion?
He said he has spoken to his supervisor about it and he advised him to stop delivering the post to my house.
Surely as a postman he encounters some actual savage dogs on a daily basis. My dog has never bitten anyone, he just has a thing about post.
Sorry about the spelling in the title.

Wire cage.
He doesn't sound like he's being a prick. I'm fine with dogs but would be wary of posting mail through a door with a snarling, barking dog trying to grab the mail. Especially when you consider sometimes mail gets stuck halfway and fingers are used to push it all the way through. Add in a potential fear of dogs and surely you can empathise?

Bought one of these recently: http://www.simplypostboxes.co.uk/brass-effect-lett...
Does the job. I think I got it a bit cheaper but it's hardly a massive expense.

Inform your postman to roll up the post - push it a little way throught the leter box, and when the dog goes for it - slam it through the postbox as hard as possible. That way:
1) The dog gets fed up with getting smacked in the face.
2) The postman feels like he is getting retribution.

I used to have a similar thing delivering papers.
I'd stuff the paper about half way through, wait for the dog to come bounding towards the door at a rate of leptons then remove the paper. *thud*
Repeat until bored
ETA: I would have thought a box outside would give the postie more piece of mind than a cage he can't see. do you not get fed up of your dog savaging your mail?
