Hagesan Blue, it's dilute phosphoric acid, so it smells like cheap coke, and it's great for cleaning car parts too.

Wonder Wheels. Limescale is alkaline so you need an acid to neutralise it. Got any car batteries lying around the garage?

Agree with this stuff.
Cillit Bang used to get there eventually but the HG works much faster.

I've now put in an electonic 'scale wizard' on the incoming cold water main. cost £60 from Maplin. The limescale doesn't form in the same way anymore - it's just a layer of powder which can be wiped away. Our cleqaner is chuffed with it.

I've used them all with varying degrees of success (even Bar Keepers friend) but like the idea of that gadget. The one task I hate is cleaning the shower of lime-scale. This will make it a dream. Cheers for the info, I'm off to order one.

Wrong chemistry. Limescale is calcium carbonate which is neutral. Acid simply dissolves it.

Kilrock is stronger than Hagesan, plenty of ventilation essential.

Then scrap off with a blade, or extra fine wirewool (glaziers use it !)

Clean with Brasso wadding

Then a coating a rain-ex, or Aqua-pel or some car windscreen stuff like Gtechniq G4

Finally wipe away all water immediately after shower.

Finally, enjoy a sparkling looking shower door for months to come.

Thats the proper way of doing it

Or just rinse it with water , spray it on , leave for 1 hour , scrub it with a sponge or something , and repeat if necessary ( this is with HG stuff ) cillit bang not as strong

I have used this method on a shower cubical that hasnt seen cleaning for more than 2 years , it was like brand new
