We'd like to mount a TV in a position which puts it roughly above a radiator. I'm sure this will probably cause issues with heat rising from the radiator and affecting the TV, but I was wondering if there are good solutions around for this? Would rather not move the radiator, but can build a shelf or similar on top of the radiator to deflect the heat a bit.

Any good solutions to this?

I have a tv above a radiator and it doesn't affect the picture at all, although the radiator has a cover on it.
Did anyone see one of those escape to the country progs. the other day, they walked into a house and there was a flat screen tv bolted to the wall above a wood burner, now I think that might be a bit extreme.

Does the radiator cover deflect heat toward the room rather than just up? Any similar pictures of your cover would be much appreciated!

I would say a shelf is a good idea.
The picture won't be effected by heat, it will just be running hotter and the heat sinks will be working harder to keep the set cool.
I would have thought it would just shorten the life of the set, being as it will be running hot when the rad is on.

Am I right in thinking LCD tellys aren't happy near heat sources?

I wouldn't have thought either LCD or Plasma would be happy. Surely the fans will be working overtime.

We had this trouble but soon rectified it by putting a little shelf about 50mm above the rad. It was only about 150mm wide but did the job of reflecting the heat in to the room and away from the plasma tv. We used a temperature probe to check the temp at the tv and it was no different to when the heating was off.
