Nov 15th (my PB) and I've had to put the heating on finally, well it was that or the threat of divorce.

Just doing some maths now to see if the gas bill will cost more than a solicitor.....

Anyone in the uk still got the heating off?

Mad. Unless you live in a flat. Going to be -1 outside of cities tonight; cheaper to put heating on than pay to have pipes fixed and possessions replaced...

We're not talking about hot houses. More like not-cold houses. Mine's about 19C.

I was on auto-pilot and thinking about my friends house which is just ridiculously hot, makes you want to sleep straight away, awful.

I hate heating the house with the radiators...much prefer a nice fire*. They suck in all the stale air which is somehow replaced with fresh air - lovely natural heat.

Note: *Only light fires in a designated fire place.

Ours has been on for about two weeks - mind you only for an hour or so in the morning and a bit in the evening to keep the flat comfortable..

What on earth are you on about? I presume you think my original reply to the thread was directed at you? It wasn't.

Not me, it's too chilly otherwise.

Yes, but only because it's not working. I had some "plumbers" out earlier in the year to "fix" the heating, but when I went to put it on last week it's doing exactly what it was doing before they "fixed" it.

Yuck. Agreed. Hate it when it's too hot; I start going into Stand By mode. biggrin

I was away from the UK beween mid December 2009 and end Feb 2010, that's around 9 weeks. The heating in my place there wasn't on, even though it was the coldest winter in 30 years. No problem with any pipes whatsoever when I got finally got there, so -1C tonight isn't an issue.
