Secondry glazing
Discussion
ASlight thread hijack alert;
I have been looking at a way of installing secondary double glazing that looks in keeping with a period house. Had a joiner here today who said that the glazing bars required to hold a 24mm minimum DG unit were 41mm, much thicker than the SG bars in the existing Georgian windows. He was suggesting single pieces of glass with aesthetic fake glazing bars stuck front and back and using a brown insert so you didnt notice the gap in the DG unit.
I had thought to install self contained Georgian style DG windows either close against the old windows or well back but this 41mm would look all wrong and I don't really want fake aesthetic bars. The alternative is to m,ake the secondary units single glazed with the same thickness bars as the existing wondows.
Ant ideas?
