Best place for Underfloor Heating
Discussion
Good answer
To clarify what is needed...
We bought some before for the bathroom, all the places we have tried - the obvious Google'd hits - they all seem to be the same kind of mat, made in India, so there is probably just the one factory making them for everyone. and the price seems a bit steep, at £1400, for what they are. There must be somewhere, or someone who knows a good source.
Q1. What is the best insulation to go on top of 150mm Kingspan covered with 50mm of concrete? (Marmox mats?)
Q2. Do the Marmox mats have to be glued down? - The Adhesive is expensive when your doing a big area, £600 has been quoted just for the adhesive!

For that size, the adhesive (roughly working out) would cost about £250 to glue the Marmox boards down.
Definitely get the thickest boards you can afford and fit, as they will retain the heat in the tiles for longer. I could only fit 10mm in, but given the choice i would have put down something thicker.
Say you went for a 30mm marmox backer board, you would need around 68 boards (min) at £14.95ea (less delivery). £1016.60.
A 10mm thickness would be £672.52
I used this place to get my backer boards, and check the UFH kits/specs, but used an ebay seller to purchase the product (cheaper, same gear)
