radiator valve - central heating
Discussion
Hi All,
One of the valves on my radiator broke. Well the plastic bit broke and it has been off ever since.
Now the weather is cold and the heating on, this particular rad is not getting hot at all. The pipe on the valve side is red hot but the rad is stone cold.
The valve is in place and the pin in up, I can push it up and down with my finger.
What position does the pin have to be in, to allow the valve to open and get the hot water into the rad?
I guess I will pop to the DIY store and pick up a valve top thins weekend.

Hello there, have you managed to fix the valve head? I found this thread cos im looking for help to do with snapped off/broken off plastic head on radiator valve... one with numbers to regulate the heat. I have no idea how it happened. It is in a freezing cold bathroom, and one day as I was folding the towel on the radiator, the valve head just fell off. It appears cracked through near the bottom. The bottom bit of the plastic can still be seen inside the metal bit of the valve. I have read some people say you can just change the plastic head. Is this true? Is it that simple, Im worried it was gonna be a plumber job with draining the radiator and all sorts. All help and advice very much appreciated... thank you
