Guys

Got my first quote for a new stove installation in my lounge. Basically I want to have my existing hearth lowered and it needs extending to meet regs. The quote seems expensive to me but I'd appreciate feedback. I dont want to do the work myself before somebody suggests.

Yeoman CL5 Multi fuel stove & smoke control kit £875.00
Stove pipe & closure plate £120.00
Bespoke hearth to be templated slate £340.00
Steel box interior with 1” frame around 3 sides of opening £240.00
6” multi fuel liner kit 10 metres / mica fil insulation / adaptor / rain cowl bird guard £650.00
open fireplace sweep chimney and confirm hearth and box sizes £225.00
Installation of flue liner stove and steel interior £475.00

Total £2925.00 + VAT

I am based near Redhill - do these prices seem reasonable? I am going to get more quotes but wanted some impartial advice. Also do I really need an interior steel box?

Thanks in advance!

Ours was:

Stovax 8Kw stove - £1350
6" liner to fit tall 2-story house + fit - £1000
Rip out existing woodburner, fettle the wall from an opening to accept a cassette-type stove, install stove & replaster - £1000.

I bought a slab of polished granite for £100, and stuck it in myself, and decorated wall.

Just been quoted;

£820 for 8KW Villager Esprit
£1170 for installation, including flue and steel box to line out the fireplace.

thegman,
Your quote sounds ok to me. How do they intend to attach the liner at the top? With a hanger or remove your pot and fit a plate.

My Dad's neighbour has just had one fitted and from memory he paid appx £900 for the burner and £3000 for everything else. His house was built in the early 80's and doesn't have a chimney, so rather than go down the route of getting planning permissison to build one on the outside of the house the flue has been routed up through the interior of the house and out of the roof.
I thought his total price seemed a bit steep but considering that they had to cut through floors and do a lot of boxing in perhaps not.

Thegman,

(Apologies for waking your thread up again with a slight topic change)

If you got the CL5 stove fitted and were using it this winter, do you like it? We're getting a similar quote from a local place next week, and the CL5 is our preferred option at the moment.

Ta very much!
