anyone up on insulation?

main house is a semi, it's got three external cavity walls of approx 300mm thick, it also has a kitchen extension to the rear which is solid walls of about 280mm. if i was to remove the wall between the kitchen and the dining room (which would have been the external wall originally) am i likely to have heat / draft / insulation issue?

and are there any ways to better insulate these walls without removing / rebuilding?

Thanks
Chris

Chris, I think you're going to have more than insulation problems if you remove the former external wall. You might need to talk to a structural engineer, or find someone to recommend an honest builder (they do exist).

Don't get the sledgehammer out this weekend...

You could dab on insulated boards to the extension area.

Sorry I should have noted I'm only trying to work out all the possible issues before going ahead with getting quotes and having the work done

There's no point in worrying about structural walls if the extensions not going to make a good external wall
