Fixing electric shower (diy)

Some plumbing/electrical advice required -
My power shower is stuck on 'Low Pressure' (no water on cold or hot settings) and it's a tad difficult to get a plumber out this side of Christmas.
How difficult is it to change the solenoid/valve controlling the water flow? I'm tempted to do it myself if it doesn't require special tools. I have a GCSE in Electronics and know how to wire a plug, but obviously don't want to attempt something that will endanger myself or others.
