I have a need for a small block of foam..

Basically in my PC my harddrive is kept inside a box like this

http://www.shinyhardware.co.uk/includes/showimage....

The purpose of the box is to keep in all the noise from the harddrive. The problem is the box vibrates because the harddrive vibrates. For this reason is currently sits on the floor of my PC case on some bubble wrap stuff.

Foa is better those, I am looking for a slab of foam that will reduce the vinbrations to the floor if the case.

Anyone know what type to look for and where to buy?

If I get desperate I think we have a big foam sponge that I can cut down to size!

Just google for 'foam shop'. I can recommend one in Ipswich but don't know your location.

I've bought from e-foam before, went for packaging foam, a medium dense dark grey foam. Just put in your dimensions and it comes back with a price including VAT and delivery.
What size and thickness are you looking for? I've got a few off-cuts lying around.

I spose I need 15cm by 15 cm and about 5-10cm deep - i woudl then cut down to size

I might look into fire proof foam. as its going into my PC near electric circuits i wonder if there is a fire risk?

as the very least it needs to be heat resistant i guess.

That's a good point about the heat, that packaging foam is not fire retardent.

Find a local upholsterer. He will have lots of small off cuts and large sheets of fireproof foam in various densities. If you are local to me ( Oxford ) I could sort you out.
