Energy Monitor - How many kwh do you use a day?
Discussion
I just recieved a free energy monitor thing from british gas. After playing the game of trying to make the number as low as possible, then as high as possible, I just set it up for normal use.
Question is, how much is a normal amount of kwh to use a day? I seem to vary between 6-10kwh depending on how long i'm in the house each day. Is that a lot? Who knows?

How did you get one? I dont remember seeing an offer from them.I still have no idea what energysmart is, and I also didn't know I was getting a free meter, but apparently I did. I'd call them up and ask for one.
Electricity consumption also depends on the time of year and what other forms of energy are coming into the house, also how water is heated.
I'm using about 20kW hours a day at present, three people - but it is summer and a fair chunk of that goes on the swimming pool pump. However I don't have any gas or oil, so all water is electric - but I have solar and hot water heat pump.
What would be interesting is the total kw consumption for a house (including gas), per person per year.
It's quite frightening how much energy the average person uses each day when you consider it's difficult for anyone with muscle power alone to generate enough to light a 100w light bulb.

From October to October this last year we used 3700 units.
There's always someone in the house; two computers on 24/7, numerous chargers, hot pads, electric blanket, kettle, oven, ch pump in winter, solar pump, and lighting 99% low energy bulbs.
No immersion or space heating with electric.
