Washing Machine draw not draining properly........
Discussion
Hey guys
As above, we have a Hotpoint Ultima WT761 Washing Machine which is not draining the fabric softner from the draw. The powder is being cleared fine but when the machine has finished the majority of softener is still in the compartment!
We've tried cleaning the draw and running a hot wash but its still not clearing this compartment as it used to.
Any ideas please?
Many thanks

Not sure about your w/m but for most of them the softener is let out of the drawer by solenoid operating a valve in the floor of the drawer. Maybe this solenoid is Donald Ducked.
wrong, A solonoid will fill the softner compartment in the same way as it takes the powder,ie. through a certain compartement of the dispenser. In the case of the softner, it sets up a syphon by overfilling the compartment with a much lower pressure of water than that used for the powder. In your case it can only be either the syphon tube in the softner compartment blocked, easy fix and I assume you have had the draw out and cleaned it properly, (fill it with water while out and watch the water trickle out by the syphon) or most likely the top section of the dispenser is blocked due to the low pressure of water casusing black mould to build up.
As you have the draw out, look at the jets above the softner compartment and poke them out best you can. In worse cases the top section of the dispenser will need replacing. If you have a hot water supply, it may be worth temporarily connceting the hot pipe to where the cold pipe is and running a rinse programme, sometimes the hot water is enough to clean it out, dont forget to swop back afterwards.
In theory it could be the solonoid itself but its unlikely.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I've had a look and can't see any sort of cap or anything obvious that would be causing it. Do you guys have any pictures of what this could look like?
Does the draw come out from the washing machine at all?
the "cap" in this case is formed by the blue insert through which you pour the softner into, it has a cylinder shaped tube which pushes over un upright tube which forms the syphon.I've had a look and can't see any sort of cap or anything obvious that would be causing it. and yes the draw does come out (and should be removed every month or so for cleaning!) push the blue lever inbetween the conpartments to release.
