I have the following in my house:

A temperature thermostat to adjust temperature in the hallway

A control box in the kitchen - can program hot water and heating to turn on / off and set periods of heat / hot water.

The issue i have is that the hallway gets warm alot sooner than other rooms due to close proximity to the kitchen. Therefore, the hallway and kitchen are warm, but bedrooms can be cooler.

Can i replace the hallway thermostat with a wireless one, putting the transmitter in a bedroom or landing in order that the heating will be on until that area is up to temperature? Seems daft that half the house is hot and the other cold.

The room thermostat is positioned in the room with most air changes. Normally the hall as the front door is there. It sounds like your hall radiator isn't balanced properly with the rest of the system. It should be adjusted so that it heats up last.

Hall doesn't have a radiator - that's part of the problem.

Hmmm....
Moving it to a space with a radiator is going to give similar problems I would have thought! It sounds very much like the system isn't balanced at all though. Is there a radiator in the kitchen?

Yes - double radiator in kitchen - rarely turned on, if at all due to heat from boiler, cooker, fridge and freezer.

Google 'RF thermostat'. I have a Towerstat one but they I think they are discontinued, but you can get other makes.

It works great for me, the temprature sensing bit is in the remote part so you can just keep it with you as you move around the house.

I wouldn't have thought you would want the bedrooms as warm as the lounge or kitchen(if you spend much time there) unless it's a teenager's bedroom where they spend a lot of time.

How about turning the thermostat up so it allows everywhere to get hotter before cutting the heating off - or leaving the bedroom doors open to spread the heat?

Anyone any idea's why the

http://www.lphs.co.uk/popup_image.php?pID=319

system is a pain, fairly frequently the radio signal seems to be lost between the room thermostat and boiler, pain esp when it happens in the night and you wake up to a freezing house.

Sometimes i just take it off the wall and walk nearer bolier and it fires up, other times have to press the buttons in under the batteries to reset it redface.

I had a similar problem, in that the old hallway stat had a 2 degree switch period, and by the time the hall had dropped off two degrees, the living room was distinctly chilly.

I relocated the stat in the living room and changed it for a programmable one, opened up the radiator thermostat in that room and all was fine - nearly.

I've since realised that I needed to throttle down the rad in the living room as it was coming up to temp too quickly compared with the rest of the house, so I've reduced the flow via the lockshield valve. Also the hall was just wasting heat, so I've almost completely shut off the rad there (it hasn't a thermo valve as it was the driver for the original stat position)
