I moved house recently, and the previous owners of the house have put cheap nasty laminate flooring down in the spare room. Under the laminate there appears to be some sort of silver underlay, and on one wall coming out of the floor is a green and yellow wire with a plug on the end of it, and that is plugged into a socket on the wall.

So it looks like the previous owners have for some reason earthed the metallic underlay. WTF?

It's not an electric under-floor heating panel or something, is it?

Nope - just a single earth wire. Very strange.

earthing to prevent static screwing up medical monitors, maybe?

Computer repair home workshop?

Alien spaceship landing pad with earthing to degauss the flux capacitors? (I've no idea what that means BTW!)

The previous occupants were fkwits.

Remove earth tag.

It must look bloody stupid with a random cable running up to a socket LOL

Instead of doing this to the whole family, they've done it to the room itself. rotate

This one.

Clearly the previous owners of the house were carrying out strange medical experiments in their spare room.

How long before we get a "What do I do with the decomposing remains in my loft" thread? hehe

Hmm, I haven't been in the loft since we moved in....

And yes it does look bloody stupid. I'm ripping the floor up when I get a chance and putting carpet down.

Don't forget, you will need a qualified electrician before you touch it, or you will certainly die wink
