Is there anybody out there with knowledge of house hold alarms?

I have one in my house which has been disconnected, i need it reconnected. It was originally installed in 1995 and the previous owner said it was discon'd before they arrived and do not know the code.

The pannel in the loft has had 3 cables taken out and if i put them back the tamper light comes on and the alarm sounds.

Is there a solution to this without knowing the code or am i stuffed?

cheers,

Brother D

At worst and the cabling is in place a new panel is next to nothing and a breeze to install. Have used these guys on serveral occasions for Texecom products which are well regarded.

we had a similar thing when we moved in to our current house. the yellow pages had a listing for alarm engineers, phoned the closest one, had a service and reset of code and a new battery for £50. with a cert for insurance company.

A panel and keypad change should simple if you are competent in what you're doing smile

If you have put all the wires back correctly, then from what you're saying it could be a number of problems tbh. You'll be surprised what people rip apart though when they can't find the problem.hehe Have you tried metering/belling out the tamper circuits on the disconnected wires to see if they are ok (closed) ?

As a side note to being competent, I've seen systems fitted by trained sparks that are shocking to say the least. No idea who fitted one that I saw about a year ago now, but it had a 240v smoke alarm detector connected to the mains via 2 cores of alarm cable running straight through the alarm panel. yikes A workman wondered why his cutters blew up as he accidentally cut a cable. hehe

If you want the system insurance approved though, then you will need to have it sorted and certified by an approved company.smile

Blimey bullitinhead that was cheap. thumbup
