Central heating problem
Discussion
Got up this morning, the combi boiler on the 1st floor is running but only some of the radiators are getting hot, downstairs all the rads are cold. Was fine last yesterday evening. The pressure in the boiler looks OK (albeit a little higher than normal).
Other than drain & flush the whole system any ideas what would be best to sort it, the house is properly cold without central heating.
Cheers

Pump packed up? Upstairs radiators getting hot by natural convection.
Doubt that would happen with a combi, especially as the boiler is upstairs. Even if they can run if the pump isn't working it would cut out very quickly as the water in the heat exchanger got too hot.It could well be a frozen pipe.

Dammed microbore pipe!
8mm or 10mm?I think it was a daft 80's idea to save copper usage, not a fan.
Pipes have burst, made a right ol' bang, I'd drained the downstairs rads as much as I could so hopefully there's not too big a puddle under the house.
Bypassed the downstairs rads so have hot water and upstairs heating.
Going to wait until Spring I think and replumb the whole lot properly, PITA as it'll mean ripping up most of the floors.
Maybe I can get some insurance to help pay for it.

Can't you ignore the ground floor carcass and drop for the radiators?Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
