Hi all smile I've ended up with a little bit of money to invest, about 60-65k and I haven't a clue what to do with it for the best.
As house prices are favourable I thought I might put it into a small house to rent out .. is the rental market good? ( I'm assuming so with so many repossessions and people finding it hard to raise deposits to buy these days ..)
Obviously 60-65k doesn't buy much so I'm looking at modest terraces in the north of England really.
Does anyone have any good tips, or alternative places to spend my money
thankyou

You need to look at the potential rental return in the areas in which you are looking at buying, check out some websites, it may not be worth it. You would want to see at least a 10% return on your investment, so £6-7K per annum in income, don't forget to factor in agents fees, insurance, income tax etc, plus potential spells of no income.

If your doing it for a capital gain.....good luck!

Many investment funds have return 20%+ this year. Do you have a mortgage? If so pay off some capital.

You really want to look at any fund performance over a longer period to make a judgement.

The hard part is getting your lazy fkwit IFA to suggest selling them before they go back down. But he's busy chasing new punters and new commission.
