Boring topic I know but there are some things that a man cannot put off doing for ever!

We currently have integrated Bosch appliances (WM, TD & DW) and would never ever choose them again - I'd rather wash all clothes by hand and dry them in front of an open fire.

So, need some recommendations for something half-decent as a replacement. I don't think it needs to have all the bells and whistles on it, as I don't think half of them ever get used.

I've been buying Bosch white goods for years now (having moved house several times) and NEVER EVER have had a problem with any of them performance or reliability wise so your comments really surprised me. Just about to refit the kitchen at our current home and will buy Bosch again. What models do you have out of curiosity. biggrin

We have a Smeg washer. Seems reliable enough but takes bloody ages to do a load.

Hi guys,

I sell these things for a living, and the best versions are the siemens built in or at a higher budget miele. To be honest though the Bosch ones are pretty good (they come out of the same factories as neff and siemens) I honestly would not discount them

I wouldn't touch fagor with a barge pole! Awful service / back up in the Uk.

Siemens do a great 7kg int machine, quick wash and pretty quiet. Ive sold 100's of them, and virtually no issues or complaints. Which says a lot these days!

At the end of the day it always comes down to how much you want to pay!

One word of advice would be to ensure it's fitted 100% correctly, if these things are not levelled properly they can be a real pain in the ass, just take some time to ensure they fit correctly

I stand corrected! (sure I found this when I bought this though!)
Still its very quiet and reasonably priced - being integrated hoofs the price right up..

forget it, re -design, get a utility room or have a freestanding washer. Intergrated washing machines are just a pain. Dishwashers ok but not clothes washers.
They cost a lot more, a lot are re-branded from one of the few producers who make them and it is natural for a clothes washer to vibrate and move around slightly and when you have a wooden door on the front it just doesnt work.

Numerous callouts, resulting in new electronic control panels on the TD (I think we are on our fifth now), new door on the TD due to bowing and various replacement bits on the WM (think engineers have been four times). Admittedly, the DW hasn't been too bad as we have only needed one callout on that, which turned out to be a blocked something or other. It still needed to be taken to pieces to get to the blockage though.

Just have no confidence in the brand for kitchen appliances - love their hammer drills though laugh

I'd recommend Miele, I supply appliances for our kitchens, never had a problem with any miele appliance, have them at home as well. However they aren't cheap.

we can all say buy a Siemens or Miele, but for value for money I can't fault Fagor for the money. I have sold and fitted quite a few and never had a customer complain yet.

Not that I would recommend the brand, but we have a couple of developments nearby all fitted with Fagor stuff and they have proved to be quite good, when the odd one has gone phut though it has been a costly and time consuming hassle to get the parts.

That's my point, the product isn't terrible, it's the back up and service side that let's it down. Fagor is a Spanish company that mainly supplies contract house builders, which are mostly (not 100%) sold on the bottom line cost, especially the national supply contracts. The 5 year guarantee is what is called a statement of faith, basically marketing. When you come to call on the warranty that's when the poor spare parts supply system and low levels of service will hit.

Obviously cost is a major issue for all of us, but remember the opening posters questions, he already has int Bosch appliances, so why would he go backwards to a product like Fagor? Siemens is a logical move for him. If the OP had baumatic for instance, then miele is probably not a practical option.

As I said in my previous post, you pays for what you get!

While I was in repair, there are a few brands I would advise, in order:

Miele
Siemens
Bosh

And a few I would advice against:

Whirlpool
AEG/Electrolux

We had this decision to make earlier this year and went for a Miele freestanding machine, based heavily on the 20-year lifespan of our previous Miele.

Typical - call the engineer out and the damn thing starts working properly rolleyes

On another upside, I found a warranty plan that SWMBO took out when it went wrong last year, so will still get it looked at.
