Just bought a new one and it has a removable shelf. She that uses it says "over my dead body!" there are no instructions as to what it's for so I'm after ideas. For clarification the drum revolves around the shelf.

For delicates which can't be tumbled?
You don't want meat juices getting in the dryer!

Vacuum packed stuff on a plate? It's a condensing drier anyway so any juices would errr get condensed and got rid of.

It's for putting your cat/small dog on when they get wet in the rain*

*This is a lie. DO NOT put your cat/small dog in the drier. Thank you.

Back in the '60s a Norton crankcase in the oven was quite a regular thing for the grandparents.

That shelf is actually for drying/airing and decreasing the likes of jumpers and trousers with minimum crease marks.

thats what its for.
