Anyone on here used Fernox Limescale Remover? http://www.fernox.com/products/water+treatment+che...

I have terrible clonking in my boiler and although I know Fernox make a silencing product I thought it wise to descale it first. Also I want to descale my hot water system because some of the hot taps are getting very slow.

I have read the .pdf instructions and it looks reasonably straight forward to do both but I wondered if there are any tips?

Central heating boilers VERY rarely suffer for scale. I don't EVER recall seeing one, to be honest. The water simply doesn't have any hardness in it after a couple of days in the system.
Hot water cylinders do, but you'd need a shed load of DS3 to dissolve what a cylinder normally contains. I'd just take a look at the fitting on the top of the cylinder where the hot feeds out. If it's a brass elbow connector, even more so!! I've seen 22mm internal fittings reduced to 3mm by scale.

Thanks Ferg, what about the hot water taps and supply pipework?

Unlikely to be scaled to be honest. Scale really occurs when the water is heated, so Combination Boilers are terrible for it, hot water cylinders, kettles!!! If your hot flow is poor, check the fitting on the top of the cylinder first.
