Help! Wall crumbling for no reason at all...
Discussion
Defo a leak from the bathroom behind that wall, plaster looking very damp.
Look at the other side of the wall take a measurement from the return wall of the turn of the stairs and look in measured vertical plane in the bathroom and then work out where it can be coming from.
Check from the top down, i.e. tiles still sealed, mastic seal still in place on the bath top surround, etc etc.
Good luck.
EDIT: Oooo I can see a shower tray in the first picture, height wise i'd check the lowest few rows of tiles/shower tray seal to tiles.

Exposed plaster definitely looks damp. Dry finish plaster is light pink.
The marks do indicate some canine intervention though. I might be imagining it but I think dogs do like the taste of plaster.
Perhaps repair and make dog sleep elsewehere for a little while and monitor. Alternatively there are sprays available that dogs don't like the taste of which you could use on the effected area.
