Hi guys..

I've managed to get a load of baby-oil all over my bedroom wall (don't ask). It's an emulsioned white wall, and I have no idea how I can remove it without leaving a mark. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get rid of it?

I'd suggest treating the whole wall with baby oil.

Or, try using something like lighter fuel/petroleum based. Being white though, will probably still show a tad and, will most likely have to re-coat the wall. Good luck! smile

Baby oil is mineral oil (like in the car). I suggest you emulsify it with some neat washing up liquid, and then wash it off. Scrubbing with a sponge should do it, or liberally coat your partner's buttocks and..

My guess is you'll end up with a light patch (or even with the paint washed off) so you'll need to paint it again.

Hang the used bed linen beside it.

No-one will notice the mark on the wall.

Sensible response; sugar soap and a lot of scrubbing, or strip the paint.

PH response; baby oil, on the bedroom wall. Explanation definitely required. Was she fit? Custard test needed.

This seems like a sensible solution, though you will probably end up with a 'clean patch' and end up doing the whole wall.

Whatever you do, don't be tempted (like I was, after an engine oil / sitting room wall incident one afternoon whilst swmbo was out shopping) to use a tremendously aggressive solvent like carburettor cleaner. Carb cleaner turns out to be hugely effective at removing emulsion paint and a small amount will remove quite a large area if you give it a good rub. Concealing the 'incident' to avoid spending the rest of the weekend redecorating required some pretty quick thinking on my part, I can tell you laugh

Thanks everyone - to answer your question, she was worth it.. but it looks like I'll be needing to paint the wall if I'm going to end up with a clean patch.

I'll give the washing up liquid and sugar soap a go before I do anything drastic.

Cheers!

hehe

I've just been googling for some info too - and seems it's a common problem!

Some people seem to recommend "gasoline" - surely they're not meaning just to rub unleaded petrol over the stain? Would they maybe mean butane or lighter fluid?

Oh I've been there too. It gets more of a problem when you also knock the bottle over on the carpet - now that is a bh to solve biggrin
