what indoor plant for...

I have a basement bedroom that gets no light and the air is not great. Would like to put a big green plant there to try and make the air better - what will survive without sunlight and wont need much care etc?

Can you buy a couple (plants, not gimps) and change them round every week, one upstairs for a week then swap them

Swapping around is a good idea. Things like the Dracaena is pretty shade / drought tolerant.





Local garden centres, B&Q and all the usual suspects sell them.

Well it won't make the 'air better', which is the objective, so you're really wasting your time (and money). Better to make a window IMHO.



Plants give off oxygen as part of photosynthesis. 'Light-make'. No light no make. It will simply be something you will have to water and dust, and then throw away when it goes yellow and dies either from lack of light or water, whichever comes first.

Plants also give out CO2 in the dark, not really ideal.

Doesn't need much light, and you can feed it on almost anything.
Grows quite large though.
