Painting a pine bed White.....help
Discussion
Chances are it won't be bare - probably varnished or waxed. In this case will at the very least need sanding to key and degrease it with sugar soap / white spirit. Then primer undercoat and top coat.
Avoid "quick drying" or "odour free" paints as they are usually water based and crap. Go with the old school oil based "clean brushes with brush cleaner" type paints for a decent finish that doesn't chip instantly or need 20 coats to cover...

We did exactly this with two varnished pine beds.Avoid "quick drying" or "odour free" paints as they are usually water based and crap. Go with the old school oil based "clean brushes with brush cleaner" type paints for a decent finish that doesn't chip instantly or need 20 coats to cover...
Sand it
Sugar soap
Undercoat
Top coat
Agree on the old school brush destroyers too.

Thanks for the replies guys,
The bed is indeed varnished at the moment, so sand it,white spirit/sugar soap(haven't heard about this stuff before) undercoat and Oil based brush destroying paint it is then.
Thanks for you help.
Sugar soap you can get from Homebase for literally pennies, in a spray. Under a £1 IIRC.The bed is indeed varnished at the moment, so sand it,white spirit/sugar soap(haven't heard about this stuff before) undercoat and Oil based brush destroying paint it is then.
Thanks for you help.
