Hi

I've got a recurring problem in a ground floor flat with either damp or condensation on external walls.

Can someone recomend me an 'expert' who can diagnose and recommend remedial work etc ?

I live near Guildford in Surrey

Cheers

John

I spent many years surveying damp and dampness in council and Housing association property.

You should find Rentokil or one or the other damp experts who advertise in local pages will come out and check on your problem and give you an idea of the solution free. Checking with two or three should give you a fair idea and no fees.

VENTILATION is the answer to condensation.

With double glazing and no chimneys draughts have been removed from homes BUT THIS CAUSES condensation.

If you have damp above a metre from the ground it is probably condensation. Rising damp is certainly more prevalent at ground or near ground level.

Obviously in the ceiling its something amiss in the roof!

Hope this helps

I'd be wary of asking a Damp Contractor to give an unbiased assesment of your problem. Their advice will be based upon selling you a product/service.

If you want an independant assesment and advice on suitable remedial repairs then speak to a Building Surveyor.

The RICS can provide you with numbers of local surveyors.
