Just after some advice really, I've never been through the process of renting a property (or buying for that matter)

I've seen an area that i'd like to live in but have not seen a property that quiet matches my requirements within my budget.

My budget is around £700-800pm

I currently have £2,600 in the house fund. This is to include deposit, fees, advance payments, moving costs and also all those little house stuff you need (plates, bowls, microwave etc...)

Would you say this is enough or should I save a bit more up? Should i get the estate agents involved or wait until i have enough in the bank?

Any other advice is welcome...

Thanks

Deposit will be about 1.5 times the monthly amount.

But what is 'all those little house stuff you need'? I assume you're looking at furnished propertys, otherwise I'd say you need £5k just to furnish a place (and that's cheaply).

Everything else is fairly small, moving will be you and your car, or hiring a van.

Well i'm not too fussy about furnished / unfurnished properties, it's going to be difficult enough trying to find what i'm looking for without adding more requirements.

My main priority is a garage pref with power.

I think with a budget of £2600 for everything, you need to be fussy and ensure its furnished. I imagine sitting on the floor to watch the wall will get tedious quickly.

Well, im in no rush to move out in all honesty, i already have a 2 piece sofa and a flat screen TV and a bed.

I think i'll save up a bit more and in the mean time i'll look out for a property that suits me. I wont get the estate agents involved just yet then.

I'm always looking at rightmove and the estate agents when in town. Even though I can't afford it, its good to keep yourself in the know, so you can keep an eye on prices etc. You may notice the area becomes flooded with similar places, so you maybe able to swing a better deal.

Add to that a microwave one plate one cup and a saucepan and your ready to go! Students manage with much less.
