UPVC experts - guide price and who to buy from??
Discussion
Having a few quotes this week for new UPVC windows and doors. Anyone give me a ballpark figure to be aiming at for the following:
1 no. 1800 wide window, 2 openings
6 no. 1200 wide windows, 1 opening each (one frosted)
1 no. 1800 wide 3 piece bow window, 2 openings
1 std front door full UPVC
I am not looking for precise quotes, but a ballpark figure. All windows are std height (cant remember off top of head).
Local guy is coming on Tuesday to quote. Is it worth getting the likes of Safestyle, Everest, Anglian Home Improvements etc round to quote, or just go with the local guy?
Any pointers to look for?
Thanks

I`ve had loads of stuff done by Anglian and always been happy, whenever there has been an issue they have always rectified. Your local "UPVC builder" may be cheaper but I don`t feel you get the peace of mind as you would with Anglian or Everest who I am about to use for another job. Lots of window companies seem to "come and go", where`s your warranty then?1 no. 1800 wide window, 2 openings

With the insurance company who supplied it, not the window company.OP, as a very rough ballpark: 4.5k+, much less than that and your going to be looking at some cheap nasty windows.
Dont go with the big names, you'll get ripped. Chose a reputable local company.

Window company/builder goes bust and you think an insurance company will warranty/pay out to an unfortunate customer?? Maybe, if the windows are part of an insurance claim but the OP doesn`t suggest this is the case. You should be able to get the latest A rated windows installed from £3000 upwards depending where you go.

Where in the UK are you based ?

I am based in South Lincs. Hoping for the option to get the house done in stages. I don't have a psare 3k at the moment, but can afford £500 every 2-3 months, so would prefer to get them done as and when I can afford them. I thought I would look now, given that its January, business must be slower than in summer, and therefore, hopefully the prices will be lower.
