Fun/arty way to mount bathroom tv.........
Discussion
OK, I have a small 7 inch waterproof tv for my new ensuite bathroom. It is basicaaly a 7 inch "widescreen" monitor size, but have a small trim top and bottom about 3/4 inch each, so that is the sort of size. Fully waterpoof submersible and is designed to go in tiling. But I dont really want to do so, because we are having some pricey tiles and if the TV breaks dont really want to naff about removing it, or replacing it with another one different size etc.
So, I want to put it sort of next to my bath, eitiher flushed into the wall, or maybe in some sort of mounting. I also have two 6.5 inch waterproof speakers that can be ceiling mount, or could also form part of this "mount". I was thinking a busty mermaid holding the TV off to one side, and the speakers covering her busty modesty!! :-)!
It should be a fun thing, not too complex a shape and pretty easy to paint and can have a "bathroom" or other theme, but no telletubbies please, they give me the creeps!
So any ideas or designs would be appreciated.

I agree that staring at the wall gets boring, so when I did my bathroom 5 years ago I fitted a 15" LCD TV. It actually runs on 12V - the mains socket and transformer is in the roofspace and the 12V lead and aerial run through the eves, down the outside wall and come in exactly where I need them. The screen is hung on a small aluminium bracket I made so it would go as flat as possible.

Works very well. You just have to be careful not to throw water over it or drop the remote on the bath.
Looks great that!
Mine is fully waterproof IP65 submersible to a meter and is low volt too. And remote is waterproof and floats!
As to the 'why', well we have spent a lot on the ensuite having waited 6 years to have it done, there is a seperate shower cabinet and not having tv in there, but I do like a laze in the bath (jacuzzi) and fancy watching tv in there whilst doing so. Also, as it's analogue, it was only 200 sovs!!
Like the jellyfish idea. Maybe incorporate Spongebob into it!! :-) My missus says do a boxing ring 'round board' girl, ie the dolly birds who hold the round 2 etc board up!

How about putting it in a "man cupboard" in there, if it is for you? Get a slim waterproof ish cupboard, wount it in the back of it, speakers on top firing up, then a couple of beers in there, some Pringles, a bottle opener on a string, Pic of Lucy Pinder in her shreddies on the inside of the cupboard door, then a "Not for Girls" sticker on the front of it!!

What's the join for I can see in the picture? Just keeping the hole in the wall small I guess?
I would suggest that fitting a earth leakage circuit breaker to the spur that powers this tv would be an essential safety option, especially as if I'm reading your post correctly that TV is not waterproof ie IP rated. Technically it is in zone 1 wet area, by being that close to your bath.........
Looks good though!

Partly, but also because the run to the mains socket is about 18 feet, so the lead supplied had to be extended anyway.Griff Boy said:

There are no zones in my house
Of course it's not suitable if you have children, who will throw water over the telly and break it inside a minute, but as there's just me and a cat, and the cat hates water, it's not a problem!JM said:
Are you going to connect it to a digi-box when the changeover comes to your area?
Do you get waterproof digi-boxes?
No, it runs off Sky through a magic eye, or at least will do.Do you get waterproof digi-boxes?
Liking the "man cupboard" idea actually! The bath is "mine", missus has the (£1500, FFS!) shower...although the remote control for it is "mine!" (I love me gadgets!)

If it were me i would perhaps hang it from a pole from the ceiling or an angled mount perhaps, if done well im sure it would look good. The sound of 'busty mermaids' doesnt sound good to me, if your having expensive tiles, £1500 shower, jacuzzi etc then it will look awesome, until you start putting bizaree items holding tv's in there
just imo though.
Remember the jacuzzi will be quite loud too, so your going to need some volume.
