Hi there,

I,m currently doing some work on the bathroom.

I'm adding a heated towel rail and have removed the old radiator, currently have 2 pipes with the vales closed.

Now I need to move the pipes and the towel rail is going on another wall. If I were to close the header tank and opened the valve from the old radiator and drain it from there (its upstairs bathroom) until no water came out would that be ok? I.e i could then start cutting them about....

Thanks in advance!

Why not? Don't forget that when you refill you will have a weaker mix of inhibitor so that will need refreshing.

Be wary of running your system with the bathroom radiator off, I did this and almost blew the boiler up !

It turned out that the bathroom radiator is often used as a by-pass rather than fitting a proper by-pass valve and running the system without it connected can lead to a build up of pressure.

Be aware, if you drain from the bathroom rad position, there will still be water in the pipework supplying it. Best drain down from lower in the system.
