I have a very useful and attractive porch over the front door of my well built ten year old house, unfortunately the cowboy contractor who built the porch simply, dug a hole and concreted in the softwood timber corner-post, much as one would with a fence post!

Ten years on, and of course it's rotted, and I need to put in a new timber post to a secure plinth.

Any suggestions as to the best form of fixing the post to the new concrete plinth, would be very welcome!?

Metpost bolt-down is probably the easiest, though not necessarily the most attractive.
