My Wife has an old chair and today decided to give it a good polish. In doing so we found the name 'Thonet Austria' on it. Upon googling it seems to be quite a significant brand and maybe worth something.

In true 'Antiques Roadshow' style, we've no intention of selling but would like to know is value.

What should we do?

Thanks

Posting a photo would seem to be a good first step!

Your local auction house may have a travelling chappie who can come and value it for you. Then again, single chairs rarely fetch much so it would have to be special.

It's a 'bentwood' armchair - made about 1920's, not of any value really.

Thanks very much smile

It's still as valuable as it was though... Emotionally of course.

Good to know what it is though

I have a few bits of furniture from my parent's house. Financial value is very little, but if burglars broke in those are the bits I'd fight over; everything else can be replaced.
