...it's exciting but nerve-wracking at the same time.

7.5t truck booked. Day off work sorted. A couple of extra pairs of hands to help. Solicitors (should) have everything else in hand.

Tonight, the house is full of boxes and electrical appliances without any lights on. There's an echo about the place too. I'm anxious whilst the OH is excited about moving into and feathering 'the nest'. I hate moving house, I'm 33 a week today and have lived in 5 different houses - I've owned 3 of them.

Hell, I hope tomorrow goes well but I'm sure there are some stories of moving day disasters! Wish me luck, I'm going to need it (although I'll get to play lorries like a big kid tomorrow).

Just done the same thing so in a similar boat, still got my house to sell but moved into my flat on the IOW. I was uber paranoid it was all going to go pear shaped but was fine, even with a ferry and moving up to a 3rd floor flat. It will all be fine, but its very weird saying goodbye to a home.

What's odd for me now if is 'squatting' back at my house whenever I go over to the mainland...feels very strange!

Very good advice smile

Hope it all goes well. I used to like moving house, but after doing so 3 times last year I don't anymore!

My homes isn't the mobile type hehe

My parents were wannabe property developers and when I left home I worked round the UK on short term contracts. Oh I miss the days of travelling light, would take me a year just to pack now.

We move on Tuesday. House is in a state of chaos. I also work from home, so have the joy of moving office at the same time. That's not so handy.

Buying a car that I have to collect in the middle of all this, was not my brightest idea.

We are getting somone in to do the heavy stuff though. I have found it means that I can get on with putting stuff back together at the new house and there is far greater chance of things ending up in the right place where I am able to supervise rather than be lugging the suff around in a state of autopilot.

I do miss driving the 7.5 tonne truck though.

Good Luck for Today!

We just sold our flat and moved into the MIL's while we find the 'perfect' house. Wife is 8 mths pregnant, so couldn't really help, and not having a place to move directly into meant that our stuff, cars, bikes etc had to be scattered between friends garages, homes etc.
It was hard work, lots got binned(about 30 trips tothe local dump) but will hopefully be easier when we finally find that house.

Once all the boxes are at the other end, unpack bed, order favorite take-away, fill fridge with beer. Start proper work tomorrow wink

It went ok. Our vendor decided she needed until 4pm before we could get in despite the completion taking place 2hrs earlier and this royally hacked me off. She was also lazy I've decided; the light fitting in the hallway I didn't think worked, closer inspection revealed 2 bulbs blown and one missing. It's slowly become home too with order to were things are and boxes now empty.
