****** Plumber what can I do to rectify?
Discussion
Amongst other things I have discovered he fitted the towel rail whilst I was at work. Holes drilled through the tiles in the wrong place so holes and redundant rawlplugs now visible. Its not square or level and has been effectively wedged in to fit the holes he drilled in the wall so now the pipe covers don't cover the holes in the floor tiles. One of the fixing brackets is about 3cm in from the edge of the rail, the other 3 are right at the edge of the rail. 2 of the fixing brackets aren't even touching the wall and are wonky. A monkey with a spanner couldn't have done any worse.

Confronted him to be met with a flippant 'yeah I measured it wrong' then he left. Haven't paid him.
So any ideas how to cover the holes? I haven't any tiles left.

If you moved it again, would the chrome plates cover the previous holes ?
Don't pay him until he has sorted it.
You could try your local stone mason, they should be able to mix a colourd resin to fill the hole, you would always know there was a "bit of a bodge" but I doubt anyone else would. Deduct the mason's charge (plus abit lot)from the plumbers bill.
You need to give the plumber the oppertunity to rectify before going ahead with any other option.
I can understand why you're f
ked off.
It beggars beleif that the plumber was just going to leave it. How could he possibly think that such a glaring f
k up was acceptable.
Ultimately, if you have to replace the drilled tiles, you'll have to bite the bullet, it would be a pointless waste of time trying to recover your costs from the

You could get some large diameter flat chrome washers and sit them between the rail brackets and the wall tiles which would cover the plugs he has left visible, bit of a bodge but should look better than it is.
Personally though I would just take it off and replace the tiles and refix it as every time you look at it you will notice it. As others have posted can not believe someone would leave a job like that.

Was goign to be my suggestion too. Either get some regualr washers to suit and have them chromed, or get some stainless ones and have them mirror polished (easiest probably) and should look like it is meant to. But still, if it is not straight and in the right place, it is all rpetty fruitless. A decent tiler could remove the affected tiles and refit if you ahve some spare, so it is eminently fixable, but a proper ball ache and annoying after spending good money on decent clobber.

I'd say re-tile myself or you won't be happy with the finish
Been there done that! I'll never employ a plumber again
I know I usually do everything myself but this person was recommended and gave a price that I thought I may as well let him do it for whilst I was at work earning.Been there done that! I'll never employ a plumber again
I did all the tiling which is (was) perfect so its even more annoying.
Before doing anything to the mounting brackets, try a bit of grout to cover the f
kups - if you get roughly the right colour (test-mix some first as it'll go lighter when it dries) - it *might* look ok.
Stands out now because of the plugs and the pencilmarks - get rid of those, hang a towel over the rail, and she might not notice
The floor - you can also get 22mm covers now, which may be bigger external diameter too.

I fitted a very similar towel rail and got one hole in the wrong place. I found some filler that was almost the same colour as the wall and filled the hole. I'm happy to live with it because I did it.

Things deteriorated earlier. His attempt at fixing was to put silicone sealant in the rawlplugs which I took exception to.
I also noticed he has chipped the side of the toilet cistern (heard a 'clink' and swearing yesterday but he had moved the cistern so didn't notice this till this morning.
He ranted he hadn't chipped it - to which my response was how is it full of silicone sealant then? He said 'you calling me a liar' me - 'yes'. So he's walked off the job.
Guess I'll see him in court when he tries to get some money.

kerwhat a nightmare. it is bad enough when you diy and damage things. but quite unacceptable for a tradesman to do this. i refurbished several properties and my work is ok / bit rough but even i could not mess up fitting the rad.
how are you going to resolve this? has he done other work which will cover the cost of the damage?

I wouldn't wait for him to chase you. I also noticed he has chipped the side of the toilet cistern (heard a 'clink' and swearing yesterday but he had moved the cistern so didn't notice this till this morning.

kerI would write to him. Tell him you are getting it all rectified properly and will be sending him a bill.
I would not offer him the usual opportunity to put things right on the basis of the poor quality.
Then when he doesn't pay, take HIM to small claims using the online service.
Toast the w@nker.
