What material frames, what type of glass, what area of glass....Are existing windows easy to remove, or will there be a lot of making good?

We paid £7500 about 4 years ago for 16 windows + front door + double patio doors. Incl in the window were a couple of square bays. and a chamfered window for a bedroom right by the garage roof. White plastic inside, with wood-effect plastic outside.

I paid an average of circa £300 a window, which I'm told is about average, but I only have a small place.

With 28 windows you may be able to get that down.

wow.. well these are made to measure windows, and they use the new heat insulating glass. He got this company down to under 13k. They are pvc windows throughout, thought i was getting a good deal but obviously not as good as i thought..

It really depends on the size of the window. Our living room window is approx 4k although it is about 7m long.

Hmmm, less than £500 per unit inc VAT and building works. Seems a good price to me. Assuming highests performance rating, quality tollerances on the fitting - ie not undersizing by 50mm alround and filling with expanding foam - and good standard of security.

Unless you post up sizes, materials, performance spec, what works the installers are going to do then you're not going to get any meaningfull comments.

Two windows in the OHs house will be pushing £10K, two in my parent's house will be £1k.

they do make all the windows to exact size so no need for the foam and as far as security goes the offer a guarntee that if anyone breaks in through their window or door they will replace it for free and give you £1000 compensation...

Don't want to tell you what you probably already know, but it doesn't matter how good the quality of the windows etc are, if they employ monkeys to fit them it will not end well. I very recently had all my windows/doors replaced for a very good price, and whilst the quality is superb (A+ rated efficiency, internally beaded, approved locks etc etc), the "fitters" were dogshlt. I had to go round after and fill in holes in the brickwork and had to get them to make numerous adjustments to sticky window openings that they said were "ok." It was still worth it as I can do the "fine tuning" myself, but the fitters quality was the polar opposite to the actual window unit quality.
